The ECS Client Representative Card provides formal recognition for individuals who act on behalf of the client on construction projects. It confirms that you understand your duties under UK construction regulations, can monitor contractor performance and help ensure that work is carried out safely and in line with agreed project standards.
This card is particularly suited to client-side project managers, employer’s agents, development managers and others with responsibility for representing the client’s interests during design, construction and refurbishment works.

Once we receive your complete application with all required documents, it typically takes around 15–20 working days to process and dispatch your ECS Client Representative Card. Incomplete applications may experience delays.
You will usually need relevant qualifications or experience in construction, project management or a similar discipline, supported by recognised Health & Safety training. Exact requirements may depend on your role, responsibilities and previous experience on UK projects.
The ECS HSE Assessment may be required if you do not hold an equivalent recognised Health & Safety qualification. It confirms your understanding of health, safety and environmental responsibilities on UK construction sites.
You can usually renew your ECS Client Representative Card up to six months before its expiry date. Renewal generally requires updated evidence of your client-side experience and, where applicable, refreshed Health & Safety training or an ECS HSE Assessment result.
