Formally recognise your electrical or electrotechnical apprenticeship with industry-standard ECS certification for supervised work on UK construction sites.
Official-style ECS Apprentice Card – industry-recognised proof of supervised apprentice status.
The ECS Apprentice Card is designed for apprentices enrolled on recognised electrical or electrotechnical apprenticeship programmes in the UK. It confirms that you are in formal training and allows you to access construction sites while working under supervision.
Holding this card helps main contractors, employers and supervisors identify you as a registered apprentice who has met the basic health, safety and eligibility standards required by the ECS scheme.
Standard application processing: 15–20 working days

Provides a clear pathway towards full ECS electrician status and higher-level cards.
Once we receive your complete application and all required documents, it typically takes around 15–20 working days for your ECS Apprentice Card to be processed and dispatched. Delays may occur if information is missing or needs further verification.
The ECS Health, Safety & Environmental Assessment is a mandatory test that checks your understanding of core UK site safety and environmental requirements. It must normally be passed before an ECS card, including the Apprentice card, can be issued.
No. The ECS Apprentice Card is issued on the basis that all work is supervised by a suitably qualified person. You are still in training and must not carry out unsupervised work that could put people or property at risk.
When you successfully complete your apprenticeship and gain the full qualification, you may be eligible to upgrade to a higher-level ECS card, such as Installation Electrician or Approved Electrician, depending on your qualifications and experience.
If your apprenticeship is still ongoing and your card is due to expire, you may be able to renew your ECS Apprentice Card by providing updated evidence of training, supervision and a valid ECS HS&E result where required.
